Chapter 6

We had one week before it was time to leave and travel to Texas. Griff called an emergency meeting of us soldiers and riders. He said things for him wouldn’t feel somewhat normal until he murdered the actual person who was the cause for his brother’s brutal killing. He reiterated our plan and passed out positions to the participants.

I was somewhat happy to see Fuquan, whom I haven’t seen since the night of the party. A lot had changed including my feelings for him. At least that was what I initially thought before I seen him. When the roles went out it was disclosed he was actually messing with William’s sister Sassy. He was going to use the fact William and his family hadn’t paid rent in the last four months. Fuquan said he can get William to meet him at the management office under the pretense he would pay the families back rent. He also informed us William didn’t really know what was being planned but did speak on the need to watch his back. William also told Fuquan he was going to stay strapped at all times and walk with more than one Rough Houser. Trying to be hard he told Fuquan these steps were all precautions in case something popped off with Griff and his men. Fuquan knew it was all a front of sorts and William didn’t have the heart to actually face Griff. He knew William put the word out and had the Rough Houser’s handle the dirt he wished he was capable of handling. Fuquan said once they reached the management office he would send a text to the shooter who would be waiting in the car. The car was to drive by and bust shots at William only when Fuquan was safely out the way. Fuquan said to make sure everything was followed to the letter because all though he was brave he didn’t want to feel any hot lead on his body. He said he been down that road before and wasn’t willing to go down it again. The rehabilitation time was too much and he had to grind for his money. He had a household to support. I rolled my eyes thinking, ‘Didn’t we all?’

We all believed this would work fine as long as we stuck to the script. I couldn’t tell a lie though I was upset he was messing around with Sassy. Sassy was pretty for an average type chick. She was into her schooling so I was sort of surprised she was messing with Fuquan. Her family was just as poor as mine. However, unlike me she wasn’t a hustler. I think she was trying to step her game up in dealing with Fuquan. I bumped into him on purpose and then whispered in his ear casually it was nice to see him. He looked at me with a sparkle in his eyes and a smirk on his mouth. He got ready to say something but then Griff interrupted.
